Anonymous announce October anti-Scientology protests

For Immediate Release

October 6th, 2010 - In the last month, the 'Church' of Scientology has made several alarming attempts to stifle criticism of its practices in the British Isles, whether from Welsh City Councillors[1], BBC documentaries[2], or in the Irish press[3]. The internet-based collective known as 'Anonymous' remains defiant and resolute in their own campaign to raise public awareness of the Scientology organisation's fraud and abuse, and will stage their 33rd consecutive month of protests this October, in Ireland, in the UK, and around the world.

About Scientology
Scientology is a movement created by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard in the mid-20th century. It emphasizes man's immortal spirit, reincarnation, and an unscientific method of psychotherapy called "Dianetics". On higher course levels, which cost hundreds of thousands of euro to reach[4], Scientologists learn that Dianetics can't 'cure' lower level Scientologists as their bodies are possessed by the souls of aliens. Scientology blames psychiatry for the Holocaust and the 9/11 attacks, and works for the 'global obliteration' of that field[5].

About Anonymous
Anonymous is a grassroots collective comprised of ordinary people from all walks of life, from former Scientologists and long-time cult activists, to college students and corporate professionals, all united in recognition of the malign nature of the 'Church' of Scientology, the danger it poses to society, and the necessity of action.
